Chelsea’s transfer business has heated up even further over the last 24 hours.
On the incomings and outgoings side of things, Todd Boehly is busy at work to ensure that manager Thomas Tuchel is provided with exactly what he needs to try and cut the gap between Liverpool and Man City at the top of the Premier League this term. Incoming-wise, talks continue to heat up for all of Wesley Fofana, Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with key updates delivered on the three over the past days.
Meanwhile, Malang Sarr has left the club on loan to AS Monaco with an option to buy as Timo Werner suffered the same fate but permanently as his £25million return to RB Leipzig was confirmed on Tuesday. Conor Gallagher for Wilfried Zaha swap deal possible
A few months ago, there was no chance that manager Tuchel would have even considered another loan exit for the midfielder who made his mark in south London in 2021/22.
However, Chelsea’s pursuit for Frenkie de Jong is certainly one, if it goes through, which will affect Gallagher’s playing time.
As a result, The Times have reported that Crystal Palace are hoping to use the World Cup argument and game-time promises to try and convince the Blues to allow the 25-year-old to have a second spell at Selhurst Park.
With Chelsea considering Zaha as a potential Callum Hudson-Odoi replacement, a similar situation that happened with Brighton in regards to Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill could be on here.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang alternatives eyed
As Chelsea continue to find out if a move for Tuchel’s favourite is feasible or not, Boehly is still hard at work looking at other options in the worst-case scenario.
The Telegraph’s Matt Law has name-checked Memphis Depay and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as potential alternatives, with the latter most likely with Napoli still in need of money.
The relationship between the two clubs is strong after the £34m Kalidou Koulibaly transfer was announced earlier this summer.
Man United players want Ronaldo out amid Chelsea links
A group of ‘fed up’ Manchester United players want Cristiano Ronaldo to leave before the summer transfer window closes. Chelsea may do a U-turn on their initial stance based on one condition.
According to The Sun, sources from the United dressing room are indicating that a certain percentage of the dressing room are ‘fed up’ with the Portuguese’ antics throughout the summer to try and force a move away and unsettle the playing squad in the process.
If the Aubameyang move wasn’t to receive the ‘green light’ for whatever reason, it is understood that Tuchel may consider a U-turn on his initial Ronaldo view. The fallout with his teammates is evident for all to see, and an exit is probably best for all parties concerned. Whether his final destination is to be SW6 remains to be seen.
