Chelsea under 48 hours now to complete their summer transfer business with three more additions still wanted.
The Blues have made some big splashes in the transfer market so far, but with very limited time left, there is still need for additions to be made in all areas of the pitch. Wesley Fofana is expected to be the first of the aforementioned three through the doors as his move is expected to be confirmed on Wednesday morning.
Elsewhere, moves for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and another wide player are ongoing, although no move for a much-needed midfielder seems possible currently amid the Frenkie de Jong standoff. With all of this in mind, football.london rounds up the big transfer stories on Wednesday.
Cristiano Ronaldo makes late Chelsea request
The 37-year-old is putting the brakes on any potential Napoli move in the hope that the Blues will make a last-minute call to agent Jorge Mendes for his services.
Chelsea were heavily linked to CR7 earlier this summer, but Thomas Tuchel put the brakes on this potential deal as he didn’t believe Ronaldo fit the right profile.
However, it was believed that Tuchel would reconsider his rejection if the Aubameyang deal didn’t come off. Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport have reported that Ronaldo is reluctant to move to Napoli in what could be a swap deal with Victor Osimhen as he prefers a West London switch.
Frenkie de Jong salary offer
De Jong to Chelsea at this stage looks unlikely but not impossible.
Boehly is doing all he can to potentially pull off this deal for a player who is currently in London with his girlfriend for reasons not related to the transfer market.
With Tuchel’s plea for new recruits in mind amid midfield woes, it seems as though the part-LA Dodgers owner will not give up on the 25-year-old, as demonstrated by the news that the Blues have made a salary offer to the player’s representatives of around £16m net.
The player will consider the proposal before giving his final answer.
Wilfried Zaha transfer latest
The current deal is considered ‘unlikely’ to happen at this late stage for various reasons, football.london understands.
Although, if the 29-year-old were to make a late push for this dream move, Crystal Palace have Watford’s Ismaila Sarr lined up as a potential replacement.
Interestingly enough, Zaha started for Palace in an exciting front three against Brentford last night despite missing the Man City game through injury on the weekend.
