Raheem Sterling has given his first proper interview as a Chelsea player after his first game in Blue.
He spoke about how he was settling in at a new team – pointing out that he already had a good relationship with several players from years of England duty.
I know a few of the boys from the national team, Mase (Mason Mount), Chilly (Ben Chilwell), to name a few,” Sterling said in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.
“I’ve got a good connection with Callum (Hudson-Odoi) already.”
That’s promising – the two of them could be linking up down the flanks pretty soon if CHO regularly plays as a wingback – something we saw in the first half of our friends last night.
Sterling’s connection with the players goes beyond actions on the pitch, though, and there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes chemistry and relationships, which matter a considerable amount too.
“Of course, playing against each other, you always speak to players on match day, and it’s always been a group that, even if it’s been a tackle or something, has been a good feel. They’ve welcomed me well, and I feel at home already.”
This group doesn’t have long to gel, so it’s great news that some of them have a connection both personally and professionally. A few weeks in the very warm and welcoming Thomas Tuchel environment will hopefully help everything go incredibly smoothly.
