Thomas Tuchel wants Chelsea to sign Crystal Palace attacker star, Reece James called him ‘very fast’

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha as a transfer target.

According to Media Foot, Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has set his sights on the 29-year-old star at Premier League and London rivals Palace.

The report suggests Chelsea could even put together an offer for him imminently.

Zaha, who’s remarkably made 429 first-team appearances for Palace, has been the talisman at Selhurst Park for so many years.

The versatile forward is a threat operating as either a left-winger or central striker, plus he’s one of the trickiest individuals to defend against in the Premier League because of his pace and skill.

There’s always been a question mark against him regarding his end product. However, he did finish last season with 15 goals in 37 Palace appearances across all competitions.

Chelsea interested in Wilfried Zaha

Will this finally be the transfer window where Zaha leaves Palace to join one of the division’s elite clubs?

The £130,000-a-week attacker has been so exciting to watch for several years, but people have questioned whether he’s good enough to make another step up.

For Chelsea, most supporters feel like they need another new signing in attack to go along with Raheem Sterling.

It would be intriguing to hear how the links to Palace star Zaha would go down because on the face of it he seems like a bit of a punt.

Described as “very fast” by Blues star Reece James in the past, Zaha in Chelsea colours would give the forward line some extra speed and aggression. It definitely looks like Tuchel wants players with the profile to take on opponents one-on-one.

Timo Werner replacement?

With Chelsea’s Timo Werner linked with a Stamford Bridge exit, could Zaha be an ideal like-for-like replacement?

The Palace ace would be a genuine option to play any position across the frontline, albeit asking him to be the regular No.9 seems like a stretch too far.

The idea of Zaha and Sterling as conventional wingers is an exciting one, but may require a tweak in the system.
