Chelsea Is Set To Sign a Fantastic Player Who Frank Lampard Says Is One of the Strikers in the World
Chelsea are now being linked with a potential move for Leicester City star Jamie Vardy, who previously earned immense praise from Frank Lampard.

It’s been reported that Chelsea have set their sights on Leicester centre-forward Vardy as a transfer target in this summer window. Apparently, they do face competition from Manchester United for his signature.

The 35-year-old may be edging towards the latter stages of his career, but he continues to churn out goals every year. For instance, he netted 15 goals in only 25 Premier League appearances last season to boast a stunning game-to-goal ratio.

Chelsea’s need for a new No.9 is a regular topic for discussions in the fanbase, so will the club listen by stepping up interest in Leicester’s legendary frontman?

Lampard praise for Vardy

It’s interesting to highlight what Everton boss and ex-Chelsea manager Lampard said about Vardy as recently as last year.

He put the Leicester star in the very elite bracket of Premier League forwards, as well as competing with the very best in the world.

“Jamie Vardy is an amazing player. I love watching him just as a neutral because of the way he plays the No.9 role,” Lampard said in January 2021.

“He’s one of the best strikers in the Premier, but I think if you look at a world stage of the players of his type he’s absolutely right there.”

It’s hard to argue still to this date that Vardy doesn’t rank as one of the very best strikers playing in England.

He’s mastered his craft to become so effective at what he does around the box with his movement and finishing. Also, the way his game has developed on the ball in the last few years is a really underrated part of his game.

Big game player

No, we’re not talking about the king Didier Drogba.

Leicester ace Vardy is a player that absolutely thrives on the big occasion, so even at his age it would be interesting to see how he would fare at a bigger club.

It’s quite telling when you break down his record against some top sides.

Vardy’s record of 11 goals in 14 games against Arsenal means they’re his favourite team to score against. He’s netted 10 goals in 15 matches against Liverpool, as well as nine in 18 against Manchester City.
