Chelsea: Todd Boehly ‘in touch’ regarding Cristiano Ronaldo at Stamford Bridge

0

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has ‘been in touch’ with Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent this week and could look to tie up a late move which would see the Manchester United star head to Stamford Bridge, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Boehly led a consortium which completed a £4.25billion takeover of the west London giants in May and has not been afraid to back head coach Thomas Tuchel, having forked out more than £240million to bolster his squad.

What’s the latest news involving Ronaldo?

Ronaldo made it clear last month that he is keen to leave Manchester United ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline as he is desperate to compete in this season’s Champions League.

The frontman’s wish emerged after his agent, Jorge Mendes, held a meeting with Boehly in Portugal and a potential switch to Chelsea was discussed.

It is understood that, in a late bid to secure a move for his client, Mendes has returned to Stamford Bridge to investigate whether a transfer is possible.

According to Sky Sports, the super agent has also approached Napoli over a potential switch to the Serie A giants.

The report suggests it was proposed that Ronaldo, a 189-cap Portugal international, would head to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium and Manchester United buy the Italian outfit’s Victor Osimhen, but that high-profile swap deal has not come to fruition.
