Joshua Maponga is a Zimbabwean-born public speaker, author, philosopher, leader, musician, and social entrepreneur. He relocated to Zimbabwe from South Africa, where he had spent over 20 years saying he had bowed to pressure to leave the country. The well-known figure is also a philosopher and a leader. He is passionate about community development and has worked with several large organizations.
Early Life
Joshua Maponga was born on the 18th day of July in 1973. He was born in the Gauteng region of South Africa. Both parents raised him. His life turned around when he gave his life to Christ. That is when he became born again during his youth. Nelson Mandela significantly influenced him after he was affected by Apartheid in South Africa.
Education
The effective communicator, Joshua Maponga, holds a degree in Philosophy. After enrolling in Construction Entrepreneurial Training (CET), he furthered his academic quest. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy (B.A theology) and a master’s degree in Theology. He earned his degree from Andrews University, located in the heart of Michigan.
Career
Maponga was a Pastor for 33 years and was conferred the title of Bishop from the Pentecostal and Evangelical community. He has worked with organizations such as Entrepreneurial Development Southern Africa, the Seventh-day Adventist, and Global Management Centre (UK). Joshua Maponga has a wide range of experience in branding, banking, non-profit organizations, and the project management space with multinational companies such as Vodacom, SAPO, Absa World Vision, PRASA, SALGA, Milpark College, and SAPS, to mention a few. Maponga has also written, developed, produced, presented, and anchored TV Programmes. In 2010 his show Joshua was added by One Gospel to their list of shows. His other show, Behind The Gospel, also aired on DSTv channel One Gospel. He has other shows, Late debate, Education Channel “ED,” and others. Maponga is the CEO of the institute Farmers Of Thought. He also has two organizations; the Zimbabwe Indigenous Movement (ZIM) and the “AIM” – Africa Indigenous Movement, which looks to house all of the intellectual property of how to transform Africa, a template for every other nation.
SDA Suspension
In 2020, Maponga was suspended by the SDA. In a letter signed by Southern Africa Evangelism, Personal Ministries, and Nurture and Retention Director Michael Rugube Ngwaru, the SDA said it was concerned about the content of the gospel Maponga preached how he communicated it. Maponga was banned from attending, speaking, preaching, and officiating at any function of the Church in the Southern and Indian-Ocean regions.

LGBT Controversy
Joshua Maponga was taken to court a few years ago by several LGBT activist groups in 2018 for making accusations against LGBT persons in January of that year.
He stated that “homosexuals are inferior to animals.” The bishop was taken to the Port Elizabeth Equality Court after making the statement.
He confessed that although he might have gone too far with the statement, he saw no need to be hung on the cross and forced to amend the bible or church regulations, in his own words.
Alleged Marital Affair
In April 2021, an unnamed 29-year-old woman from Newcastle, Kwa-Zulu Natal told Daily Sun that she was having an affair with Maponga.
She alleged that Maponga impregnated her but she miscarried. Daily Sun reported that it owned medical records which showed the unnamed woman had a miscarriage in February 2021 when she was nine weeks pregnant.
