Lack Of Creative Player At Chelsea Is Why Werner, Lukaku And Havertz Struggled

Last weekend, Manchester City Summer Signing Erling Haaland scored a brace on his Premier League debut. The Norwegian National bagged two goals at London Stadium as City sank West Ham United in their opening game of the season.

The first goal came through a penalty-kick while the second one was as a result of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland’s efforts. Erling Haaland was able to make a run-in behind West Ham United’s defense Lineup but Kevin De Bruyne’s accurate, long and decisive pass which ripped apart the Defense of the Hammers deserve a shout-out.

It is plays like that that makes any Forward at City not to struggle. Manchester City won the League title last season without using any Real Striker while Chelsea that had 2 Strikers Lukaku and Werner, and a False 9 Havertz struggled to finish in the third position.

These Chelsea Forwards have been Blamed and labeled flopped, and they have been placed on the chopping block this summer but do these Players actually deserve the brutal assessment they got?

At Chelsea, there’s no creative Player or Midfielder that can make forward passes like Manchester City’s duo of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. Strikers at Chelsea have to hustle for the ball because there’s no brilliant plays coming from the Midfield.

N’Golo Kante and Jorginho would rather play it safe and not attempt any Forward passes while Mateo Kovavic who possesses the grit to crack open defense would also pass sideways instead of going Forward.

Mason Mount would prefer to get a goal for himself and fire shots when he faces the goal instead of picking out a Striker in his front and pass to him. This is the system that Timo Werner played in for 2 seasons, and Lukaku last season. How does one expect these Players to thrive under such a system.
