Venom 2: Sony Won’t Deny Spider-Man Cameo Rumor

Venom 2 studio Sony Pictures won’t officially confirm or deny rumors the MCU’s Spider-Man (Tom Holland) will cameo in the Marvel sequel.

Sony Pictures won’t officially confirm or deny rumors Spider-Man (Tom Holland) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will cameo in Venom 2. Though Sony is currently sharing Spider-Man with Marvel Studios, with the character set to star in another solo movie and team-up film in the coming years, the studio isn’t letting their other Marvel characters sit on the sidelines.

Sony launched a Spidey-adjacent movie series all their own with Ruben Fleischer’s Venom in 2018, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. The film is the first in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC), which will additionally include Jared Leto’s Morbius out later this year, and Venom 2.

Though Venom reviews among critics were mixed-to-negative, it found an audience with casual moviegoers, to the tune of $856.1 million at the worldwide box office.

As a result, Sony greenlit Venom 2, with Hardy set to return and Andy Serkis to direct, taking the reins from Fleischer. Although Venom 2 doesn’t officially have a release date yet, it’s widely believed the film will occupy Sony’s Oct. 2 spot, and the Marvel sequel is currently in production. Recently, a new Venom 2 rumor stated Holland’s Spider-Man will have a cameo on the movie, and now Sony has responded to the report (kind of).
