The next phase of Halle Bailey’s career has begun.
The 23-year-old, who goes by the stage name Halle, released her debut solo single “Angel” on Friday, August 4. The inspirational song examines the grace and tenacity of Black womanhood.
The Georgia native sings, “Rich blood, you can probably see the gold in my skin/ I’m more than a girl, won’t let the problems of the world come weigh me down.”
In the Wendy Morgan-directed music video, the actress is radiant as she sings the song’s stirring lyrics.
The Little Mermaid singer earlier this week previewed “Angel” with a video montage that included footage of herself as a little girl.
The Color Purple actress thanked her supporters in a Discord message to fans before the album’s release, saying, “It’s taken a long time to come to this stage of my solo journey. “I’m going to be honest with you and let you into my convoluted head. I am eager for you to hear what I have been working on for a very long time. I’ve been quiet for a while, but this is the right time. xo, Halle.
