Controversy
Elvish Yadav has faced major legal controversy surrounding the 2023 Noida snake-venom case.
He was arrested in March 2024 after being accused of involvement in the alleged supply and use of snake venom at parties.
The case resulted in proceedings under the Wildlife Protection Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
However, the legal position changed significantly in March 2026 when the Supreme Court of India quashed the criminal proceedings against Yadav.
The court held that snake venom did not fall within the category of psychotropic substances under the NDPS Act and also found problems with how the Wildlife Protection Act proceedings had been initiated.
The court’s decision ended the proceedings against him on the issues before it.
However, it did not amount to a finding that the underlying allegations had been examined and disproved on their merits.
