JUST IN: Cristiano Ronaldo confirms his Man Utd future in leaked messages to Piers Morgan

Cristiano Ronaldo is desperate to leave Manchester United this summer but has found it tough finding a new club with Chelsea and Bayern Munich not interested in a transfer.

Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has opened up over Cristiano Ronaldo by revealing he is egging on the Manchester United superstar to make the move to the Emirates.

The Portugal international has been strongly linked with a new club this summer after telling the Red Devils that he is keen to leave. After finishing sixth in the Premier League, it means that United will be plying their trade in the Europa League next season.

Ronaldo has no interest in dropping into that competition as he chases winning the Champions League – a competition he is desperate to win one last time at least in his career. The 37-year-old reckons he has around four years at the top left in the tank and does not want to waste what little time he has left in the Europa League.

However, finding a club has proved difficult with Chelsea and Bayern Munich – the top frontrunners for his signature – pulling out of the race. It has left Ronaldo with barely any options but TV personality Morgan has floated his own idea in private texts to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

“I have had quite a lot of contact in the last week. I certainly think it’d be highly unlikely if Cristiano Ronaldo plays another game for Manchester United,” he told talkSPORT. “I just think mentally he’s moved on.

“I’m not going to say what we’ve said to each other but like I said from the start I don’t think Cristiano feels Manchester United share his ambitions. I think he feels that the signings they’re making, the commitment they showed last season, where they finished up and a lack of Champions League football.

Arsenal fan Morgan also admitted he is in close contact with Ronaldo on a regular basis and has insisted he is trying to persuade him to make the move to the Emirates. “Arsenal fans listening should know I’m doing everything in my power to try and persuade him to come to Arsenal,” Morgan added.

“And bearing in mind he was close to coming to Arsenal as an 18-year-old, he was about to sign under Arsene Wenger, and at the last minute he blitzed United in a friendly for Sporting Lisbon and Ferguson didn’t leave that game until he signed him.

“I believe he’d be coming home! Him up front with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah would be a fantastic forward line for us, so why not?”
