Real Madrid and Arsenal interested in Chelsea £50m star striker

Chelsea striker Timo Werner is attracting interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Champions League holders Real Madrid.

Werner has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer after struggling to impress following his £50million move from RB Leipzig in 2020. The 26-year-old has scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for the Blues, playing just 21 games in the Premier League last season as Thomas Tuchel experimented with different attacking partnerships.

The arrival of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City this summer could see Werner’s game time limited further, with Tuchel searching for attacking reinforcements to improve the west Londoner’s goal scoring threat. football.london understands Werner is open to leaving Chelsea this summer and the club won’t stand in his way should a suitable offer be submitted.

The German striker is attracting interest from European heavyweights Real Madrid and Premier League rivals Arsenal, according to Defensa Central. football.london learned a few months ago Borussia Dortmund wanted to sign Chelsea’s frontman but a deal proved impossible because of Werner’s current wages.

The 26-year-old is hoping to play a key role in Germany’s squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year. With opportunities seemingly limited at Stamford Bridge under Tuchel, Werner will need to lower his wage demands if he is to secure a move away from west London this summer.

According to Kicker, Tuchel has ‘put a stop’ to the German forward’s plan to leave the club this summer as he wants the striker to be part of his squad for the upcoming 2022/23 season. Juventus are another club that have expressed an interest in the 26-year-old this summer, and the Turin outfit could be Werner’s best option for first team football after Paulo Dybala left the club upon expiry of his contract.
